About
I'm Sophie, a Wellington-based photographer working across portraits, events, weddings and brand campaigns.
Photography has been part of my life since I was 14, when I inherited my first film camera – a Canon AE-1. Since then I've completed a Graduate Diploma in Design (Photography) at Massey University and spend my weeks balancing photography with my role in communications for a Wellington arts charity.
What I enjoy most is collaborating with people. No two shoots are ever quite the same, and that's probably my favourite part. Every person, family or business comes with a different idea, a different reason for booking and a different level of confidence in front of the camera. Working out what will suit each shoot is half the fun.
Some people come to me with a Pinterest board and a clear vision. Others tell me they have absolutely no idea where to start. Both are completely normal. I'm always happy to help with locations, bounce around ideas, recommend studios, or simply talk through what you're hoping to get out of the session.
I don't expect anyone to know how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. Whether that means giving a bit of direction or stepping back and letting things unfold naturally depends entirely on the people I'm photographing.
Have a look through my portfolio and, if you think we'd be a good fit, I'd love to hear what you're planning.
