Absolutely. Most people don't arrive with a detailed plan. Sometimes it's a Pinterest board, sometimes it's one photo they love, and sometimes it's just "I know I want something that feels like us."

First, I'll be in touch and we'll have a chat. That might be over email, on the phone or over a coffee if you're local.

Absolutely. Wellington has so many incredible places to photograph beyond the obvious beaches. Once I know the look you're after, I'll suggest locations that suit your vision, whether that's native bush, open green spaces, colourful urban streets or somewhere that's meaningful to you.

Yes. I don't have my own studio, but I regularly hire photography studios around Wellington. Studio sessions are a great option if you're after a clean, editorial look or simply want to take the weather and time of day out of the equation.

This is Wellington; we always have a backup plan. If the weather isn't going to give us the photos we're hoping for, we'll either reschedule or move somewhere more sheltered. Sometimes an overcast day creates beautiful soft light, so we don't necessarily need sunshine for great photographs. In fact, over cast weather is some of my favourite to shoot in!

Almost everyone tells me this before their shoot. You don't need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I'll guide you when you need it, but I try not to over-direct. The best photos usually come from conversation, movement and encouraging natural interactions rather than perfectly posed smiles.

Please do. Some of my favourite photographs happen when the important people (and pets) in your life are involved. Just let me know who's coming so we can plan the session accordingly. 

Note: I can't guarantee your furry friends will be permitted into studio spaces. That's something we'll have to figure out together.

Absolutely. I'm based in Wellington and regularly photograph throughout the region. I'm also happy to travel further afield. Travel within Wellington CBD is included. For locations outside the CBD, travel is charged at the current IRD mileage rate, or at the cost of flights. Whichever applies.

The biggest thing is to wear something that feels like you. Rather than everyone matching exactly, I usually suggest choosing colours that work well together and avoiding large logos or busy patterns that might distract from the photographs. You should feel confident, comfortable and happy. Try picking the outfits that make you feel your best.

Most portrait, family and maternity sessions last around 1.5 hours-2.5, depending on the scope of the shoot. That gives us time to settle in, explore a location and create a good variety of images without feeling rushed. Events, weddings and brand shoots are obviously much more involved.

You'll receive a private online gallery of professionally edited images as soon as they're ready. My turnaround time varies depending on the season, but I'll always let you know what to expect when we're shooting. So far, I've never handed a gallery over more than two weeks after the shoot.

I do, although they're a relatively new addition to my business. My background is in portraiture, commercial brand photography and event photography, and I'm now beginning to take on a small number of weddings each season.
